OUR STORY

Red River Rainbow Seniors is an organization dedicated to providing advocacy, education, support, and fun to the 50+ LGBT+ community in the Red River Valley.

Founded in 2017, RRRS was established to provide a friendly and safe environment in which gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allied seniors could meet and socialize. We are a member organization of the Pride Collective and Community Center of Fargo-Moorhead.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for LGBTQ+ seniors in the region.

EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY

Our goals include:

   - Facilitate access to information on legal, medical, and financial issues for LGBTQ+ seniors.

   - Work to educate agencies and providers in the community about the needs of LGBTQ+ seniors.

   - Network with agencies and providers to ensure that LGBTQ+ seniors' medical, housing, and living

     needs are met.

   - Advocate for and support the LGBTQ+ community and LGBTQ+ youth

   - Network with similar organizations regionally and nationally.

SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

We seek to enhance the quality of life for our members by providing ongoing opportunities to gather in community with one another. We have monthly organizational meetings and happy hour socials, as well as seasonal dances, camping, and hiking. Book and movie clubs meet monthly. As we grow, we plan to have an increased variety of social opportunities for our members. AARP of North Dakota has been a partner from the groups beginning and together sponsors a social gathering in conjunction with Fargo-Moorhead Pride, as well as quarterly Lounge and Learn programs for LGBTQ+ seniors.
